Trigger Point Injections

Trigger Point Injection Therapy is the injection of a local anesthetic into a trigger point.  It is a pain management strategy that reduces muscle tension and discomfort. Trigger points are created when the muscle and connective tissue, known as fascia (or myofascia), adhere to one another.

A trigger point is a painful, hard knot under the skin. Trigger points can cause pain in one location or another, known as referred pain, by irritating a nearby nerve.

Those with pain in the following areas may benefit from trigger point therapy:

  • Lower back
  • Shoulders
  • Neck
  • Arms
  • Wrists
  • Legs

TRIGGER POINT INJECTIONS MAY CONTAIN LIDOCAINE, SALINE, B-12, SARAPIN, OR OTHER MEDICALLY NECESSARY ANESTHETIC.  SARAPIN IS AN ALL-NATURAL ALTERNATIVE TO OTHER PAIN MEDICATIONS

We offer the use of Sarapin and B-12 in the trigger point injection.

SARAPIN®, which acts on the sensory nerves, has been used safely and effectively for pain management by physicians for over 70 years. Unlike Cortisone, which is known to carry some side effects such as elevation of blood pressure and weight gain, SARAPIN® is a biological medicine derived from the pitcher plant that has virtually no known side effects.

It works by stopping pain signals in the nerves of the spine where they exit the spinal column. It does not affect any other nerve or motor functions, nor is it affected by heat or cold. Sarapin is a non-toxic, sterile aqueous solution of soluble salts of the volatile bases from Sarraceniaceae (Pitcher Plant).
